Sometimes. Out of the blue, i would feel like crying. When we were younger, all we cared for was, ourselves, our parents, our toys. We used to laugh heartily, laughter that rang in others hearts, real laughter. We used to play like there was no tomorrow. We didnt care who we spoke to, what we said, what it meant. We were all happy. Colored candies, little plush dresses, frilly hair with neon pink ribbons. We used to be ourselves. But look around you, does everyone smile like they mean it? Sometimes, i feel safer putting on a mask that beams at others. A mask that hides that grotesque scar that screams "IM FEELING LIKE A LOSER".

The truth is, I am afraid of being left behind, afraid of people leaving me, afraid of being hurt. I prefer to hide than to face whats in front of me. When people cant come close to me, they cant harm me. People see what i want them to see, the me that smiles, jokes, laughs and goes crazy. Thats just an act. One that crumbles after time. Have you ever commented on someones status and felt like an extra, deleted the comment and pretended it never happened? Its not that you really thought it was irrelevant, its cause you felt you yourself had no place in it, you felt like an outcast. And no matter what you do, you can never shake that feeling off. Thats just you. You think too much, worry too much, thats just you trying to save your heart.

I tell you. Im not a fan of Singapore's movies, shows, yaddaryaddar. I totally slept through xia dao xiao. Oh man that show sucks. Fact. However love 50% was aweshumm. The storyline was simple but sweet. Guy meets girl who loves apples, goes through this and that. Falls in love. Happy ending. Its not thhaaaat cliche. I adore the bouquet of apples. Found it really kewl the guy whose allergic of apples could kiss the girl (french kiss) when she just ate an apple. But oh well. Its an improvement right? :) At least i sat through that 2 hours engrossed by the film munching on my chocolate bar! Im looking forward to the next show. Hopefully, it rawks just as much.

Day 3 — Your parents

Dear Mummy and Daddy,

I thank god for giving me such wonderful parents. You've supported me throughout my life. As a only child, i know how pampered i am and how much love and care you shower upon me. I can only say, I am really grateful beyond words. I might shout and scream, throw tantrums (and things too), but you never fail to comfort me and raise me up as i am. Your unconditional love throughout this 14 years, the tears, the pain, the joy, the laughter. Our family has gone through so much. I still remember when i used to hate eating. I returned Singapore in a pile of skin and bones. How aghast you looked, that face full of hurt. Mummy, you cried. You cried because i weighed so little, that my collar bones protruded so prominently, that my wrist was so thin it seemed like it was able to be broken with a flick of your hand. You swore you would make me look like a "proper child". The next few months was grueling. You had to force and shove each spoonful of food into my mouth, and all i did was spit it all out. You were distraught, and yet you persevered on. You slapped me every time i spat my dinner back into the plate, and i grew to hate and despise you even more. I refused to eat. And you would lock me into the "little black room" until i begged for forgiveness. But slowly, i ate more. I was scared of the "little black room", no one was there to comfort me, it was dark, it was scary. To the four year old me, it was a complete nightmare. Years down the road, I heard from daddy that you cried whenever you locked me in there, that you would spend the entire evening crying from guilt. I am sorry. I had not known i had caused so much trouble. My entire life seemed to be devoted to troubling you.

Even as i write this, I think about the time I spent so much money shopping, where i would burn a deep black hole in your pockets. I seemed to be addicted to using money. It was almost as if it was a way to congratulate myself one the slightest achievements. A good score in my common test, a merit for my piano, yaddar yaddar. All you would do is smile and hand me the money. Sometimes, i believe its not completely my fault. You have grown me up to be so materialistic. My entire life, things that existed were the most important. When you refused to give me the money, I get pissed. I start crying. I start cursing. As i grow up, I try my best to change. To look beyond what is real and standing before me. To think things through with my heart and not my brain. I am trying to change. Its hard but i would. I hope you can see that change.

This year. I want to say a big thank you to mummy and daddy. Without your encouragement and guidance, i would not have made it through so many milestones and setbacks. Without that little push, i would have given up halfway while applying for Vj. I had not given myself much hope, neither did i believe in my abilities. And i am thankful to have you by my side, affirming me and leading me through this year.

I wish for your forgiveness in the many little things i do wrong, when i shout back at you, I want you to know i do not mean the things i say, when i bang the door shut to lock you out, I want you to know i wish you could give me more time and let me sort things out alone, when i say i hate you, I want you to know i would always love you. That you are always the most important in my life. That you would always be first in line.
